Men's volleyball splits matches at Skyline Conference Quad Match

New York, NY-- The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team competed on Sunday afternoon in a Skyline Conference quad match at Yeshiva University. The Gators took the first match from Yeshiva (3-0, 25-10, 25-15, 25-22), but fell in the second match to New Jersey City University, 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-21, 26-24). The Gators stand at 17-8 overall and 9-4 in the Skyline Conference.

Against Yeshiva, sophomore Scott Fitzgerald (Hudson Falls, NY/Queensbury) added a team-best 9 kills with 11 digs and 6 block assists. Junior Ryan Kramer (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central) chipped in with 8 kills and a block assist.

Junior Spencer Hilland (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem Central) recorded 7 kills on the afternoon with seven block assists and 3 digs.

In the final match of the day, the Gators took the first set, 25-23, but could not overtake NJCU in the final result.

Sophomore Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) added 15 kills with an ace, 8 digs and a pair of block assists. Hilland had 17 kills on the afternoon with 6 digs and 2 total blocks. Fitzgerald tallied 8 kills with 7 digs for the Gators.

Junior setter Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) handed out 33 setting assists against Yeshiva and another 45 against NJCU.  Ray now has 846 setting assists this season. Sage's career leader for setting assists Ray now has 1,554.

The Gators return to action on April 3 travelling to Ramapo College for a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference match to close the 2012 regular-season out. The Gators have already clinched a spot in the upcoming Skyline Conference Tournament, the program's third-straight post-season berth. The match will determine seeds for the conference tournament.
