Sage drops two as Wilson continues her assault of dig records

SAGE WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL DROPS TWO MATCHES ON SATURDAY

Oneonta, NY---- The Sage Colleges women's volleyball team traveled to Oneonta State for a tri-match with Hartwick College. Sage dropped two matches on the day, the first to Hartwick (3-0, 25-11, 25-16, 25-18) and the second to the hosts, Oneonta State (3-0, 25-15, 25-21, 25-18). Sage wraps the 2010 regular-season with a record of 7-22.

Against Hartwick, Sage's junior Kelsey Wilson (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons) racked up nine digs with two serving aces and moved ahead of Caitlin Ostrowski (2004-2006) for the No. 8 spot on Sage's career digs list. Wilson ended that match with 1,156 digs and by day's end would add another eight digs to move into the move into the No. six spot on the career list leaping over two more former Gators as she now has 1,164 career digs and could move into the No. 5 spot mid-week when the Gators open their 2010 Skyline Conference Tournament action.

Against Hartwick Sage also got a strong showing from senior Michelle DeNisco (New Hampton, NY/New Hampton) as she had eight kills with three blocks. Senior outside hitter Cheryce Harvey (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor) added eight digs with two kills, while rookie Gina Cerutti (Scotia, NY/ Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons) had six kills and six digs.

Against Oneonta State, Sage's Cerutti tallied nine digs with four kills , while Harvey led the team with her 10 digs and had three kills. DeNisco contributed seven kills with three blocks.

Sage returns to action on Wednesday, November 3 for the 2010 Skyline Conference Tournament. Seeded sixth, Sage will face third seeded Old-Westbury at 7 p.m. on the road. Sage is making the program's fourth straight Skyline Conference appearance this season. Sage's senior trio that also included Nicole Corbett (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) has combined to help lead Sage to two NCAA Tournament appearances (2007 and 2008), two Skyline Conference Championships (2007 and 2008) and the league's runner-up title in 2009. With the 2010 tournament bid on their resume, Sage will shoot for the program's third NCAA Tournament bid on Wednesday.
