The Sage College's women's volleyball team competed on Tuesday evening at Vassar College in a non-conference match. The host Brewers posted a 3-0 win, beating Sage 25-8, 25-13, 25-19. Vassar improves to 3-3 overall and Sage falls to 0-3.
Senior middle hitter Nicole Corbett (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) added eight kills with one block, while junior libero Kelsey Wilson (Schenectady, NY/Bishop Gibbins) added 21 digs.
Sage’s rookie setter Joanie Cooney (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added 21 assists with three digs for the Gators. Senior Cheryce Harvey Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor) added six kills with eight digs on the night.
The Gators will travel to Nazareth on Friday and Saturday, September 10-11 for the weekend. Sage will face No. 19 ranked New York University in the first round of play and find No. 2 ranked Juniata waiting in the wings. Also competing in the tournament is No. 23 ranked Heidelberg, SUNY-New Paltz, Hiram, and SUNY-Fredonia.
