Gators wrap action at Nazareth Tournament on Saturday

 

 Rochester, NY---- The Sage Colleges women's volleyball team wrapped up action on Saturday at the Golden Flyer Invitational at Nazareth College. Sage faced Fredonia State and the host, Nazareth College in dual matches on Saturday. Fredonia posted a 3-0 win over Sage in the first match (25-3, 25-14, 25-20) and Nazareth beat the Gators, 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-8).

Against Fredonia, the Gators were led by senior middle hitter middle hitter Nicole Corbett (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) as she had two kills, while junior Jennifer Ahearn (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) added three kills. Rookie setter Joanie Cooney (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenedehowa) added eight assists with three digs. Junior libero Kelsey Wilson (Schenectady, NY/Bishop Gibbins) added eight digs in the match.

In the final match of the tournament, Corbett added eight kills with three blocks, while Cooney added 13 assists with three digs. Ahearn chipped in five kills, while Wilson had 12 digs.

The Gators will host SUNY-New Paltz on Wednesday, September 15 in the Neff Athletic Center at 7 p.m. in the first home match of the year. Sage will be giving away 25 free Sage athletic T-shirts to the first 25 Sage students in attendance with a Sage ID!
