Gators drop Crankin for A Cure Match to Union

Schenectady, NY---- Union College and The Sage Colleges women's volleyball teams competed in their fourth annual Crankin for a Cure match, a fund raiser for the Susan G. Komen Fund. Both teams as well as fans in attendance donned pink at the Viniar Athletic Center on Tuesday evening. Union triumphed with the 3-0 score (25-18, 25-13, 25-18) and improves to 15-10, while Sage falls to 4-20.

Sage's junior libero Kelsey Wilson (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons) tallied 12 digs in the match for the Gators with an ace. Freshman setter Joanie Cooney (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) connected for 13 setting assists with two kills.

Sage's senior middle hitter Nicole Corbett (Greenbush, NY/Columbia) continues to add to her career record for blocks as she had two more on the evening with six kills. She has 442 career blocks and stands in fourth place on the career kill list at Sage as she has 1,090.

Rookie hitter Kate Kuebler (Schenectday, NY/Mohanasen) connected for seven digs in the match.

The Gators will be in action on Sunday, October 24 for an away Skyline Conference Tri-match facing Yeshiva University and Maritime College on the campus of Bard College.
