Lexington, KY – For the second time in program history, The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball program has placed a player on the 2014 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region Team. Sage's senior outside hitter Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) was named to the 2014 New York Regional Honorable Mention Team.

The latest honor for the Gator tri-captain follows a long list of accomplishments for the player that just this week was named the Most Valuable Player at the 2014 Skyline Conference Women's Volleyball Championship, earned her fourth straight Skyline Conference Women's Volleyball All-Star First Team pick. Among her numerous awards this fall, twice she has chosen as both the Skyline Player of the Week and Eastern College Athletic Conference Corvais Division III Metro/Upstate Player of the Week. She opened the season garnering All-Tournament Team honors at the University of Rochester in early September as well as a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the Plattsburgh State Invitational. In late September, she was honored with a selection as the Tournament Most Valuable Player as she helped lead the Sage team to the championship at the Skidmore College Classic.

Last week, she racked up 17 kills with a .410 hitting percentage in the Skyline Championship to bring home the title. The senior outside hitter added 29 digs in the match and a block as Sage won the championship, beating Mt. St. Mary College, 3-1.  In a sweep of The College of Mount Saint Vincent the previous day, Putriment notched 11 kills and 10 digs.

On her 2014 season, she leads the team with her impressive 13 double-doubles. Overall as a Gator, Putriment has 1,352 career kills which is No. 2 only behind the record held by Caitlin (CJ) Ostrowski with 1,411 (2004-2006). She also has 1,693 career digs and moved into the No. 3 spot in the championship match with her 1,693 career digs. She is No. 14 on the career aces list with 118 aces as a Gator. With her selection this year, Putriment joins Ostrowski as an AVCA honoree after she earned the same award in 2006.

After winning the 2014 Skyline Conference Championship, Sage has earned a spot in the 2014 NCAA Division III Tournament and has been chosen to participate in the regional tournament that will take place on the campus of Williams College (Williamstown, MA) on November 14-16. The Gators bring a record 24-6 into the NCAA Tournament and will face the Ephs of Williams College in the first round of the tournament on November 14 at 8 p.m.
