Jillian Schwab – Sage Women's Volleyball
By Leighani Wright, a freshman business administration major at Sage.
Q: How do you balance your time with academics and athletics?
A: "Seeing the tutors on campus is hard because of my schedule. My dad helps me pay for personal tutors. I meet with them 3 to 5 times a week."
Q: What brought you to Sage?
A: "My college career began at Union College, but after a few short weeks decided to transfer to Sage. I knew Coach Sandy before she came to Sage and decided to attend Sage, where I felt more at home. At Sage I can be myself."
Q: In high school you played a few different sports; meaning you had to stay in very good shape. Did you have a specific routine that you followed?
A: "No. I kind of went from season to season. There was a week break between each season, so I was always ready for the next one."
Q: Do you have a routine you follow to stay in shape now?
A: "I work out four times a week. I do cardio and lift weights."
Q: When did you begin playing sports?
A: "I began playing sports when I was around 5 or 6 years old. I played soccer and Tball at first and I also swam for 5 years."
Q: You ran track and played basketball in high school; why did you decide only to play just one sport, volleyball?
A: "The volleyball season is shorter than basketball season so it's easier to schedule academics around. I have more time during the off-season to focus on my academic work and keeping my grades up."
