Win streak grows to 12 as Gators top Castelton

Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team hosted the Spartans of Castleton State College on Wednesday night in Kahl Gym. The host Gators topped the Spartans 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-17) and in doing so extended their unbeaten streak to 12. Sage stands at 15-4 on the year, while Castleton drops to 4-9.

Sage's senior tri-captain Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) posted a double-double with her 12 kills and 15 digs, while adding an ace. Senior Rachel Martin (Troy, NY/Troy) connected for 12 kills, while sophomore outside hitter Siena Wilder (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake) racked up six aces and five digs, while being perfect with her 11 receptions with no errors.

Sophomore setter and team tri-captain Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) led the Gators with her 30 setting assists and also had six aces as the Gators combined for 20 aces in the action.

Castleton's senior Kaylee Pratt (Hampton, NY/Granville) had eight kills for the Spartans, while sophomore Brittany Brayman (Hartford, NY/Hartford Central) added 11 digs and had three kills. Junior outside hitter Amanda Chambers (Lake George, BY/Lake George) had three kills, two aces and had nine digs.

Sage returns to action on October 4 travelling to Maritime College for a noon Skyline Conference match, while Castleton State travels to Colby-Sawyer College for a tri-match with Maine Maritime and Husson, also on October 4.
