Martin and Scheiderman honored by Skyline Conference

New York, NY – The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team had two players recognized for their play thus far on the 2014 season as senior middle hitter Rachel Martin (Troy, NY/Troy) and rookie defensive specialist Missy Scheiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) were honored by the Skyline Conference. Martin was named the Skyline Conference Women's Volleyball Co-Player of the Week, while Scheiderman was place on the Skyline Conference weekly Honor Roll.

Sage is coming off a 4-0 week having also taken home the 2014 Best Western Ground Round Cardinal Tournament Championship at Plattsburgh State College. Sage has extended their win streak to four matches and stands at 7-4 on the year.

Sage's Martin was named the tournament MVP at Plattsburgh State and averaged 2.32 kills over 11 sets with a .288 attack percentage. She leads the Gators with 23 blocks and compiled 26 kills in the three victories at the Plattsburgh Tournament. Martin checks in with 72 kills and has 89 points on the 2014 season already. 

Scheiderman averaged 3.13 digs in 39 total sets and added 10 service aces on the year to earn her selection. She has 122 digs with 10 aces in 39 sets played thus far.

Sage returns to action on September 17 hosting Hartwick College at 7 p.m. in the Kahl Gym. Sage fans are encouraged to wear green and help flood the swamp on Wednesday night!
