Indianapolis, IN– The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball and several team members are ranked nationally in the several statistical categories with the release of the latest NCAA Division III statistics of the 419 Division III women's volleyball programs.
Sage's sophomore outside hitter Siena Wilder (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston) ranks first in the nation in the most recent NCAA Division III stats with her 77 aces. She is No. 2 in aces per set average (0.97) and has also chipped in with 294 digs. She is No. 5 already on the Gators single-season ace list.
Also ranked in the individual stats is senior Rachel Martin (Troy, NY/Troy) as she is No. 62 in hitting percentage with a .329 average on the year. Martin is second on the team with her 206.5 points and has 173 kills with 37 total blocks as well this fall.
Sophomore tri-captain Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) is ranked No. 13 in service aces (57), No. 22 in aces per set (0.72), and No. 52 in total setting assists (736). Her 9.32 setting assists per set average is No. 60 in Division III, while she continues her climb in the Gator single-season record book as well this fall. Liebig has 1,180 career setting assists and vaulted to No. 5 all-time at Sage.
Sage is 19-4 on the year, riding a 16-match win streak and also ranks nationally as a team in several categories. Sage is No. 4 in Division III in team aces (257), while also ranking in the No. 5 in aces per set (No. 8, 3.34) as well as No. 27 in win percentage (.826) and No. 44 team hitting percentage (.226). The Gators are 5-0 in the Skyline Conference and are also riding an 18-match conference win streak that dates back two years as the team's last loss in league play was October 3, 2012 to Mt. St. Mary College (3-1).
The Gators return to action on October 18 hosting a Skyline Conference tri-match at the Neff Athletic Center (Troy, NY). Sage will face the College of Mt. St. Vincent at 11 a.m. and 2013 Skyline Conference champions, St. Joseph's College (LI) at 3 p.m. Sage will hold their Faculty Appreciation Day in conjunction with the Gators' match with the Golden Eagles at 3 p.m.
