Putriment honored by Skyline, while Wilder leads Nation in Aces

New York, NY – For the second straight week, The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team member, senior outside hitter Helen Putriment (Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) was named the Skyline Conference. Women's Volleyball Player of the Week, while sophomore outside hitter Siena Wilder (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston) ranks first in the nation in NCAA Division III women's volleyball statistics in aces and No.2 in aces per set average.

Sage is 16-4 on the year, riding a 13-match win streak and also ranks nationally as a team in several categories. Sage is No. 9 in Division III in team aces (208), while also ranking in the Top 10 in aces per set (No. 8, 3.06) as well as No. 39 in win percentage (.800). The Gators are 3-0 in the Skyline Conference and are also riding a 16-match conference win streak that dates back two years as the team's last loss in league play was October 3, 2012 to Mt. St. Mary College (3-1).  

Putriment notched a pair of double-double performances with a .452 attack percentage to earn her second consecutive Skyline Player of the Week citation. She registered 12 kills and 15 digs on Oct. 1 in the Gators' 3-0 victory over Castleton State and compiled 12 kills and 10 digs while hitting .556 in a 3-0 win at Maritime on Oct. 6. She also leads Sage in kills (196) and ranks second in digs (249).  She has a .285 attack percentage this season to go with her 217.5 points and has played in 68 sets this fall. She is one of just three Gator women's volleyball players to have 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. She brings 1,240 career kills and 1,578 digs into the week and also has 103 career aces.

Wilder has a team-best 67 aces and 275 digs in her first season as a Gator. She is already No. 8 in single-season aces and has played in 70 sets this fall with 38 kills.

Also ranked among the national leaders is sophomore setter and team tri-captain Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford). Liebig has already amassed 1,110 career setting assists and is No. 7 all-time at Sage, while connecting a personal-best 666 setting assists this fall in 70 sets played. She is ranked in four NCAA statistical categories as she is No. 25 in aces (46), No. 38 in total assists (666), No. 47 in assists per set average (9.51) and No. 60 in aces per set average (0.66). 

The Gators return to action on October 8 visiting Bard College for a mid-week non-conference match. The week wraps with Sage visiting SUNY-Old Westbury for a Skyline tri-match with Sarah Lawrence and the host Panthers.                                                                          - 30-
