Sage's Helen Putriment earns acclaim from Skyline Conference, Scheiderman earns Honor Roll status

New York, NY – The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team had two players recognized for their play thus far on the 2014 season as senior outside hitter Helen Putriment (Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) and rookie defensive specialist Missy Scheiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) were honored by the Skyline Conference. Putriment was honored as the Skyline Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week, while Scheiderman was placed on the Skyline Conference weekly Honor Roll once again.

Sage is coming off a 4-0 week having won the Skidmore College Classic and boasts an impressive 14-4 overall record. The Gators bring an 11-match win streak into October 1 when they host Castleton State at 7 p.m. in the Kahl Gym.

Putriment was instrumental in the Gator volleyball team's wins over MCLA, Skidmore, St. John Fishers and Hamilton. She earned MVP honors at the Skidmore Classic and was also cited as the Skyline Conference Player of the Week after she averaged 3.13 kills and 4.53 digs over 15 total sets. She posted a .298 hitting percentage and had three double-doubles last week. She is making her run for the Sage career kills mark as she is currently No. 2 with her 1,216 kills and now has 1,560 digs as one of just three Gators with 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs on their careers. On the season, Putriment has racked up 191.5 points on 172 kills with 224 digs. She has elevated her career numbers to also includes 1,553 digs (No. 4 at Sage), with 102 aces (No. 14 at Sage).

Scheiderman racked up 50 digs over 15 sets in an unbeaten week for the Gators. She has 196 digs having played in all 64 sets this season.
