Oneonta, NY – The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team travelled to Oneonta State on Tuesday night for a non-conference match with the Red Dragons. Oneonta State came away with the 3-1 win on their senior night and spoiled Sage's 20-match win streak as they won 25-19, 19-25, 25-17, 25-23. Oneonta improves to 17-14 on the year, while the loss puts Sage at 23-5.
For the Gators, senior Rachel Martin (Troy, NY/Troy) connected for 12 kills and had four blocks in the contest, while Sage's senior tri-captain Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) added 8 kills with 11 digs.
Sophomore Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) collected 7 kills with 3 block assists.
Sophomore setter and team tri-captain Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) led the Gators with her 31 setting assists and 2 digs.
Putriment has now tallied 1,318 career kills and is closing in on the Gator career kills mark that is held by Caitlin (CJ) Ostrowski with 1,411 (2004-2006).
Sage returns to action on November 1 for the 1 p.m. non-conference contest at Vassar College in the regular-season finale.
