Troy, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team was well represented with the release of the players of the week as selected by both the Skyline Conference and the Eastern College Athletic Conference as junior outside hitter Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) swept the awards.

Sage's rookie setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) was also named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week as well after her efforts on the court for Sage last week.

Putriment led the Gators to a 3-0 week last week and helped the team clinch the top seed in the upcoming Skyline Conference Volleyball Championship. The Gators, 15-16 overall and 8-0 in the Skyline Conference posted wins over Utica in non-conference action, while sweeping conference foes Farmingdale State and NYU-Poly to cap the week.

She averaged 4.11 kills and 4.33 digs over nine sets as Sage secured the Skyline regular season title with three victories on the week. She added a pair of double-double performances and an attack percentage of .378. She also collected 13 kills and 12 digs with no errors in 10 reception attempts on October 26 in a 3-0 win versus NYU-Poly. Against Utica earlier in the week, she notched 15 kills and 10 digs.

She was been named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week five times this fall, while also earning the Corvais ECAC Division III Metro/Upstate Player of the Week for the first time with her selection on Wednesday.

On the season, she leads the team with her 303 kills with 31 aces and has chipped in with 13 blocks and 380 digs.  She has connected for 12 double-doubles this year and now has 989 career kills with 1,237 career digs, and 84 aces. She is poised to become the first player since the 2007 season to have 1,000 career digs and 1,000 career kills. The last player to achieve the feat was Catelyn Samoranski, who had 1,154 kills and 1,093 digs.  Putriment will join an exclusive club at Sage that when she hits the mark will boast just four members including herself. She stands at the No. 5 spot in career kills and No. 4 in digs.

Rookie setter Rachel Liebig averaged 10.56 assists and 1.33 digs over nine sets as the Gators registered 3-0 victories over Utica (Oct. 23), NYU-Poly (Oct. 26) and Farmingdale State (Oct. 26). She topped the 30-assist mark versus Utica (34) and Farmingdale State (33). She has adjusted to her new role as the starting setter for Sage and now has 279 setting assists with 20 aces and 71 digs.

Sage returns to action on November 2 hosting Purchase College in the Gators' regular-season finale at 1 p.m. in the Neff Center in conjunction with Senior Day.

Prior to the match, Sage will honor senior setter Joanie Cooney (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa). Cooney, a veteran leader and three-time team captain, has been forced to watch the team from the sidelines and after playing in every match until the October 13 date, has only played in 25 this fall. On her senior season, Cooney leads Sage with her 570 setting assists, while contributing 50 kills, 16 aces and 169 digs.  She is No. 2 all-time on the career setting assist list at Sage with her 2,973 setting assists in 123 matches played. She has 949 career digs as well in 412 career sets played. She is a candidate for the 2013 CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Team for excellent work in the classroom and on the court.
