Gators fall twice at Endicott Invitational


Boston, MA – The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team travelled to Massachusetts to compete at the two-day Endicott College Invitational. On Friday, the Gators faced Bowdoin College and the University of Massachusetts-Boston. The Gators fell 3-0 to Bowdoin (25-9, 25-22, 25-20) and 3-1 to UMass-Boston (25-14, 11-25, 25-17, 25-11). Sage stands at 1-6 on the year and will face Roger Williams and Plymouth State in matches at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Against UMass-Boston, the Gators were led by the play of rookie outside hitter Sara Campolieta (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) as she had eight kills with six digs. Sage's junior outside hitter Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) had five kills with eight digs, while sophomore Morgan Robinson (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added five kills with a .273 hitting percentage.

Rookie Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) added four kills, while senior setter Joanie Cooney (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added 12 setting assists with four digs and three kills.

Junior defensive specialist Katelyn Drollette (Cadyville, NY/Saranac) had a team-best 19 digs in the action.

Against the Polar Bears of Bowdoin College, the team was led by the play of Putriment with her six kills and 17 digs, while Robinson and Berard each had three kills.
