Kean bests Sage in ECAC Semifinals

Union, NJ – The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team travelled to Kean University for the semifinals and finals of the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference Metro Tournament on Saturday. Top seeded Kean posted a 3-0 win over Sage in the semifinals (25-15, 25-8, 25-16). The loss puts Sage at 18-18, while Kean advanced to the championship match with their 23-14 record.

Sage's junior Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) added seven kills with nine digs, while rookie Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) added five kills with a dig. Junior Jillian Schwab (Fayetteville, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) connected for three kills with a block assist for the Gators.

Sophomore Morgan Robinson (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) connected for two kills four digs. Rookie setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) posted 14 setting assists in the action with two digs. 

Junior libero Katelyn Drollette (Cadyville, NY/Saranac) had eight digs, while rookie Sara Campolieta (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) picked up seven digs. Putriment, who earned 2013 Skyline Conference Player of the Year honors last week, now has 1,044 career kills and ranks No. 5 on the Gators career list, while also racking up 1,329 career digs which is No. 4.  Drollete has recorded 1,138 career digs and ranks No. 11 at Sage.
