Gators sweep Skyline play of Saturday as Drollette surpasses 1,000th dig mark

Farmingdale, NY – The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team travelled to Farmingdale State College for a Skyline Conference play date. The Gators tallied a pair of wins over both the host Rams of FSC (3-0, 25-21, 25-16,  25-15) and NYU-Poly (3-0, 25-14, 25-16, 25-12) and remain unbeaten in the Skyline Conference with one league match left to be played. Sage is now 15-15 on the year overall and 8-0 in the Skyline.

Against NYU-Poly, Sage posted a strong showing as junior Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) added a double-double as she had 13 kills with 12 digs and was a perfect with no errors in 10 reception attempts.

Rookie Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) added seven kills for Sage with four blocks, while rookie setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) made the start for Sage and had 28 setting assists with five digs.

Junior libero Katelyn Drollette (Cadyville, NY/Saranac) had 11 digs to rack up her 1,000th career dig in the match after starting the day with 993 career digs.

Sophomore Mickey Mango (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) added four kills with two aces and five solo blocks to pace with Gators.

Against the Rams of FSC, Putriment racked up nine kills and connected for 16 digs, elevating her career resume to include 975 career kills, which stands No. 5 in the Gators career record book. She is poised to become the first player since the 2007 season to have 1,000 career digs and 1,000 career kills. The last player to achieve the feat was Catelyn Samoranski, who had 1,154 kills and 1,093 digs.  Putriment will join an exclusive club at Sage that when she hits the mark will boast just four members including herself as she has 1,226 career digs, which stands No. 4 on the Gator career list as she leaped over both Kellie Jones (No. 5, 1,198) and No. 4 (Kailtin Olmstead (1,208) on Saturday in digs.

Liebig added 33 setting assists against FSC, while connecting for five digs as well. Berard added 12 kills with three digs, while Mango connected for six kills, an ace and two solo blocks. She now has 133 career total blocks, which ranks No. 8 all-time on the career list. Drollette, who added 13 digs in the match, now has a team-best 427 digs this fall, while adding 1,031 on her career which ranks 13th best in program history.

Sage returns to action on October 29 hosting Oneonta State at 7 p.m. in the Kahl Gym. Sage will be participating in the Dig Pink cancer awareness efforts and are encouraging fans to wear pink to the match. Please check out this link
