Gators collect 3-1 win over SUNY-Cobleskill

Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to visiting Sage on Thursday evening at the Iorio Gymnasium in non-conference action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 5-7 overall on the season while the Gators move to 4-11 on the campaign.

The Gators received strong play from junior outside hitter Helen Putiment, Troy, N.Y., Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, who returned to her home county to post 13 kills and 20 digs on the evening while senior setter Joanie Cooney, Ballston Lake, N.Y., Shenendehowa High School, added a game high of 46 assists.

The Fighting Tigers were led by junior middle hitter Kady Porterfield, Macdoel, Calf., Butte Valley High School, who notched a team high 12 kills on the evening to go with three solo blocks and by freshman setter Katie Yang, Schenectady, N.Y., Schenectady High School, who tallied a team high 20 assists.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday September 21 when they travel to Keuka Park, N.Y. the first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Inter-Divisional Play Weekend hosted by Keuka College. The Fighting Tigers will open the event on Saturday when they take on the Nittany Lions of Penn State Abington at 4:00 p.m. followed at 6:00 p.m. with a match versus the Bison of Gallaudet University.

Sage will also return to the courts on Saturday September 21 when they travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. for a triangular event hosted by Vassar College. The Gators will face Vassar at 11:00 a.m. then meet Kean University at 1:00 p.m.
