Sage Softball Falls in Skyline Championship Final

NEWBURGH, NY – Sage fell the Mount Saint Mary 9-0 (five innings) in the Skyline Conference Championship Final Saturday afternoon.

In the top of the first, the Knights got off to an early 3-0 lead off a two-RBI single from Cindy Connoly and a sacrifice fly from Michelle Surdan. Mount Saint Mary (22-10) tacked on two more runs in the top of the second with a two-RBI single from Chelsea Dexter.

The Knights continued their run in the top of the third when they went up 7-0 off RBI's from Kathryn Eiler and Connoly. Dexter extended the Knight lead to 9-0 with a two-RBI single to right field.

Sage's (24-15) Katie Kovage (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) and the Gator defense held Mount Saint Mary scoreless over the next two innings, but it wouldn't be enough as the Knights won 9-0.

Connoly (13-2) was credited with the win on a four strikeout effort, while Sage's Lindsay Brace (Moriah, NY/Moriah Central) (12-6) picked up the loss.

Sage was led on offense by Jessica Adams (Nassau, NY/Columbia), Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) and Jennifer Onwe (Tarrytown, NY/Sleepy Hollow) with a hit a piece.
