Sage Splits with Manhattanville and Thiel

CLERMONT, Fl. – The Gators split in double-header action on Friday with a 4-1 win against Thiel and a 12-4 loss against Manhattanville.

In the nightcap with Thiel, Jessica Adams (Nassau, NY/Columbia) singled down the left field line to bring Morgan Dunn (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) and Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) across the plate and put Sage up to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.

In the fourth inning, Thiel's Madison Fullmer hit Alexa Fike home with a double down the left field line to bring the score to 2-1.

Sage went up 3-1 in the fifth inning when Rimawi hit Allison Ford (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) home on a double up the middle. The Gators added on an additional insurance run in the sixth inning when Courtney Laughlin (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) hit Kiersten Duncan (Millerton, NY/Taconic Hills) home on a single through the right side.

Sage was led on offense by Duncan (2-3, one run), Adams (1-3, two RBI's) and Rimawi (2-4, one run) while Thiel was led by Fullmer (2-4, one RBI), Caitlyn Carney (3-4) and Fike (0-3, one run).

Sage's Ford (1-3) picked up her first win of the season with Lindsay Brace (Moriah, NY/Moriah Central) recording the save. Thiel's Allison Williams (2-2) was credited with the loss.

In the first game, Manhattanville got off to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first until Dunn hit an RBI double to tie the game 1-1.

The Valiants put three runs on the board in the second inning to go up 4-1. Sage responded in the third inning when Brace scored on an error and Ford scored on an Alexa Silk (Freehold, NY/Greenville) single to bring the score to 4-3.

Manhattanville tacked on eight more runs over the next two innings. In the bottom of the fifth, Silk scored on a Dunn double to make the score 12-4, but it wouldn't be enough to force a sixth inning.

Sage was led by Dunn (2-3, two RBI's) and Silk (2-2, two runs, one RBI) on offense while Manhattanville was led by Alicia Marino (1-2, three RBI's, two runs) and Aarin Hartenstein (2-4, three RBI's, two runs).

Hartenstein (1-0) got the win while Brace (1-3) picked up the loss for Sage.

Sage is now 2-6 on the season. The Gators round out their Florida trip with games tomorrow against Plattsburgh State and RPI at 1 pm and 3 pm.
