Troy, NY –The Sage women's outdoor track and field squad was in action on Saturday at the Capital District Championship on the campus of RPI for a non-team scored meet. The meet was the final competition for the Gators on the 2016 season.
In the 100 meter run, junior Krystal Lambert (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey) picked up 10th place in 13.97, while she was also 13th in the long jump with a performance of 4.72 meters. She was also part of Sage's 5th place 4 x 100 relay team that posted a time of 53.57.
Competing on the relay for the Gators were Lambert, Smith, sophomore Sarah VanAernem (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa), and junior Nyasia Irby (Great Neck, NY/Manhassat).
VanAernem picked up a 20th place in the long jump with a performance of 4.3 meters, while Smith was 21st (4.02 meters). VanAernem picked up 18th in the 100 meter hurdles in 18.38 to cap her day off.
Junior Kelly DiBiaso (Bristol, CT/Saint Paul Catholic) was 17th in 15.90 in the 100 meter run, while rookie Kadedra Allen (Troy, NY/Troy) picked up 18th in 16.27. In the 200 meter run, DiBiaso was 20th in 33.43 and Allen was next in 21st in 33.62.
In the 800 meter run, junior Lauren Belfast (Ilion, NY/Ilion) picked up 33rd place in 3:02.97, while junior Melissa Grimaldi (Nassau, NY/Columbia) was 35th in 3:26.92. In the 1,500 meter run, senior Ellyn Fisher (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) was 16th in 5:53.45, while Belfast took home 20th in 6:33.08.
Rookie Sagan Leggett (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) was in action in the 3,000 meter steeplechase for the Gators and picked up 7th place in 15:11.64, while rookie Hannah French (Berlin, NY/Berlin) picked up 8th in 15:20.91, while sophomore Samantha Phelps (Amsterdam, NY/Fonda Fultonville) took 9th in 16:09.91.
Freshman Logan Thayer (S. Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls) was 14th in the shot put with a toss of 8.5 meters, while junior Kimberly Craft (Ellenville, NY/Ellenville) was next in 19th with a performance of 7.70 meters. Rookie Madeleine Herring (Goshen, NY/John Burke Catholic) picked up 20th in the shot (7.61 meters) and was also 20th in the discus with her toss of 25.48 meters.
