Bio

As a newcomer Katie Kovage had a strong rookie campaign for Sage in 2013. She capped her first collegiate season in a strong fashion as well, earning recognition in five categories. She was ranked nationally with her four shutout wins (No. 90). Kovage earned three Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week selections in her collegiate debut after she led the team with her 10-3 record and a 2.07 ERA. Nationally she ranked 94th in ERA, as well 75th with her 5.85 hits per seven innings average as well as with her 2.0 walks allowed per seven innings average. She checked in at the No. 243 spot with her 4.2 strikeouts per seven innings and also at No. 189 with her 2.0 walks per seven innings pitched average. She added a 2.07 ERA in 23 appearances, while fanning 61 batters. She ranks in a number of pitching single-season categories in her collegiate debut as her 10 wins in No. 5 and her 23 appearances in 8th. Her 101.2 innings pitches stand 12th in the Gator single-season annuls, and her 61 K's is seventh highest.  She also batted .340, which was fourth highest on the team in 2013.

As a returning Gator, she was a 2014 Skyline Conference All-Star First Team and 2014 ECAC Metro Second team honoree. She finished her second season at Sage ranked in both pitching and hitting categories. She wrapped the season with a .382 batting average which was second on the team and added 38 RBI’s to finish the year ranked No. 80 with her 1.03 RBI per game average. She added an 11-7 record in the circle with a 3.85 ERA in 94.2 innings of work. She ranked nationally as well with her 5.5 per game strikeout average and with her 11 wins on the season.

A 2015 Skyline Conference All-Star Second team performer, she continued to watch her resume grow. Among her many feats she pitched a perfect game as Sage topped the College of Mt. St. Vincent, 6-0. She went 8-8 on the season in the circle and had a 3.41 ERA with 36 strikeouts. She worked in 98.2 inning with six complete games. Kovage also batted for the Gators and added a .220 average last year with 22 hits, including four doubles and 19 RBI’s.

Kovage holds the program's record for most career victories (29), while standing No. 2 in career strikeouts with 17. She has a 3.08 career ERA and has 25 complete games to her credit (No. 8), while also standing third with her 295.0 career innings of work. She owns a .315 career batting average with 87 career hits, which ranks 16^th best entering the 2016 campaign. She is also No. 8 all-time with 18 career doubles, while driving in 67 runs, which stands eighth best as well.

She starred at Hoosick Falls Central High School in softball. A 2009 and 2010 Waseren League All-Star, she also picked up Section II All-Star honors in both 2010 and 2011, while helping her team to the 2011 Waseren League Championship. The previous season, her softball team was the 2010 New York State Runner-up in the Regional Championships after also winning the Section II Class CC/C Championship and the Waseren League title. 

She attended SUNY-Cortland to start her collegiate experience and earned a spot in the Dean’s List in 2011. She completed her undergraduate degree at Sage after majoring in nutrition science last year. She is currently in Sage’s graduate studies program and is working on a post-graduate degree in applied nutrition. She is the daughter of Paul and Karen Kovage.
