Hershey, PA – Russell Sage College men's golf team wrapped action in the 2022-2023 Empire 8 Men's Golf Championship on Sunday. Scores from the fall portion of the Empire 8 Championship, which was held at Timber Banks Golf Club in Baldwinsville, NY on October 1-2 were combined with scores from rounds three and four this weekend to determine team and individual awards.
The Spring Championship was held at Hershey Country Club East, a par 71, 6,653 yard course. For the year, RSC finished in sixth place after combining their fall and spring scores (Russell Sage College – 1,436 (365-367-347-357).
Taking home a spot on the Empire 8 Third Team was sophomore Shane Kammerman (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) as he was tied for 11th after he shot carded a 333 (82-87-82-82).
Junior Austin Carpenter (Peru, NY/Peru) finished in 19th place with a 345 (89-91-77-88). Sophomore Elijah Waterhouse (Lake Luzerne, NY/Lake Luzerne) finished 23rd overall on a 356 (88-89-90-89), while rookie Hunter Brenneis (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) shot a 412 for the tournament to take 30th (106-100-108-98.
Sophomore Alex Burns (Selden, NY/Newfield) competed in the spring tournament only and had a 203 (98-105) and was joined by junior Evan Austin who turned in a 212 this spring on a 103-109.
Rookie Sam Shaw (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) competed in the Fall tournament only and shot a 210 (107-103).
The Gators are back in action on April 19 hosting SUNY-Cobleskill at Colonie Golf and Country Club in a noon match.

St. John Fisher University used a dominant scoring attack to win the 2022-23 Empire 8 Men's Golf Championship, which concluded at Hershey Country Club in Hershey, PA on April 16. The Cardinals defeated runner-up Oswego State by 47 strokes to win their 18th Empire 8 Championship in program history and second straight.

St. John Fisher, the 2022-23 Empire 8 Men's Golf Team Champion, earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Championship, which will take place May 16-19 at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, KY.
St. John Fisher recorded a final team score of 1,228 to win by 47 strokes over runner-up SUNY Oswego (1,275). The Cardinals posted a team-best score of 302 (+17) for the final round, nine strokes ahead of Oswego. Utica finished third overall with a team total of 1,339 strokes.
There was a slight fog delay early in Sunday's round before the skies cleared.
St. John Fisher junior Nick Tellone shot a 6-over 77 on Sunday a day after carding a 4-under par 67 to take control of the individual scoring competition. He completed the four rounds with a final score of 300 (14-over) to win medalist honors by 10 strokes over teammate Benjamin Fox and SUNY Oswego graduate student Ryan Fecco. Fecco, who carded the lowest round by all golfers on Sunday with a 73 (plus-2) earned runner-up honors for the third straight season.
Joseph DePasquale of St. John Fisher finished fourth overall with a four round score of 314, while teammate RJ Juodatis and Oswego's Jake Owens tied for fifth overall, both scoring 317.
Below are the team scores and top individual scores from the fall championship. The Empire 8 All-Conference selections and individual award winners will be announced by the conference next week. The top five scorers at the end of the tournament will earn first-team all-conference honors with the next five finishers being named to the second team. Finishers 11-15 will earn third team accolades.
