ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College senior outside hitter Macey Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville) concluded the season among the NCAA Division III statistical leaders in multiple categories.
She ranked sixth in the country with 0.82 aces per-set, and eighth with 77 total aces. The second-team All-Empire 8 Conference performer finished the fall 27th nationally with 4.61 points per-set and 46th with 3.76 kills per-set.
Salvione, who registered double-digit kills 18 times and achieved 11 double-doubles this fall, topped the Conference with 433.0 points, 77 aces, and 0.82 aces per-set.
Looking into the program record book, the 3.76 kills per-set was the third-best by an RSC player in a season. The 77 aces and 353 kills put Salvione eighth and tenth respectively among Gators in a campaign.
"Macey has been an incredible impact player for us," said Head Coach Rosilyn Cummings. "She brings fire and competitiveness into our gym every day and is one of the most well rounded, athletic and versatile players I've ever coached. She is a force both offensively and defensively, as well as from the service line."
Salvione, who helped RSC (14-14) qualify for the Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament for the first time, concluded the autumn ranked tenth in program records with 132 career aces, second with 3.22 career kills per-set, and tenth with 3.46 digs per-set. Her effort at the service line also helped the Gators rank 35th nationally with a Conference-best 2.74 aces per-set.
Gator Bites with Papa John's: Salvione was announced as the E8 Player of the Week for the periods ending Sunday, September 15 and Sunday, September 29…She capped her regular season leading the Conference with 420.0 points, 77 aces, and 0.85 aces per-set…The outside hitter tallied double-digit kills 17 times and achieved 11 double-doubles during the regular season.
