Gators Drop Saturday Afternoon Match to Keuka

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Volleyball battled with the Wolves of Keuka on Saturday, falling in the four set matinee 3-1 (25-19,14-25, 25-23, 25-13).

The Gators (13-11/3-5 E8) were paced by outside hitter Macey Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville), who entered the week leading the Empire 8 in points, kills, aces, points-per-set, and aces-per-set. The senior added to her tallies today, contributing a Gator high 19 kills and 22 digs. Salvione added four aces in the loss.

Middle hitter Caitlin Hammecker (Warnerville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville/ Keuka), a grad student, contributed eight kills on a .400 hitting percentage, while setter Emma Rainville (Castleton, NY/Columbia/Binghamton), a grad student, assisted her teammates 28 times across the four sets.

RSC showed strong defense across the sets, compiling 12 blocks between four players, middle hitter Monalissa Carius (Hudson, NY/Hudson), a grad student, junior middle hitter Allison Louque (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill), junior right side Shea Bryant (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes), and Hammecker.

The Wolves (6-15/2-7 E8) were led by Dayna Edholm and Nina Scott, who contributed 23 and 12 kills respectively. 

The Gators are in action again on Friday as they host SUNY Brockport.


Gator Bites: RSC began the weekend leading Empire 8 Conference with 205 aces and 2.66 aces per-set, good for 43rd and 45th respectively nationally…A dozen players returned to the court in 2024... Senior outside hitter Macey Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville), Middle hitter Monalissa Carius (Hudson, NY/Hudson), a grad student, and junior middle hitter Aniyah Kelley (Newcastle, DE/William Penn) headlined the group…Head Coach Rosilyn Cummings added four newcomers including transfers Senior libero Katelyn Atchinson (Alplaus, NY/Niskayuna/Saint Rose) and Setter Emma Rainville (Castleton, NY/Columbia/Binghamton), a grad student, to the squad…Cummings was inducted into the SUNY Plattsburgh Athletic Hall of Fame on September 27…Salvione was announced as the E8 Player of the Week for the periods ending Sunday, September 15 and Sunday, September 29…She commenced the week leading the Conference with 352.0 points, 288 kills, 61 aces, 4.6 points per-set, and 0.79 aces per-set…The stats all put the outside hitter in the top-50 nationally in all of those categories, including fourth in the country with 61 aces and 14th with 0.79 aces per-set…She has tallied double-digit kills 16 times and ten double-doubles this fall…Rainville began this week atop the Conference with 638 assists.
