Gators Go 2-1 at SUNY Morrisville Tournament

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Russell Sage College began its campaign by going 2-1 across three matches at the SUNY Morrisville Tournament.

The Gators defeated SUNY Poly 3-0 and SUNY Cobleskill 3-1 on Saturday, while falling 3-2 to the host Mustangs on Friday night.

Senior outside hitter Macey Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville) totaled 43 kills, 30 digs, and 12 aces across the 12 sets.

Middle hitter Caitlin Hammecker (Warnerville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville/ Keuka), a grad student, added 19 kills and 10 aces, and represented RSC on the All-Tournament Team. Setter Emma Rainville (Castleton, NY/Columbia/Binghamton), a grad student, passed out a combined 94 assists.

"Overall this was a fantastic weekend with a ton of progress and growth," said RSC Head Coach Rosilyn Cummings. "I am very excited about the season and the potential of our group. We played three good teams and showed up well for each match."

The Gators (2-1) face SUNY Cobleskill in their home opener on Tuesday at 6:00 pm.


Gator Bites: A dozen Gators returned to the court in 2024…Salvione, middle hitter Monalissa Carius (Hudson, NY/Hudson), a grad student, and junior middle hitter Aniyah Kelley (Newcastle, DE/William Penn) headlined the group…Head Coach Rosilyn Cummings added four newcomers including transfers senior libero Katelyn Atchinson (Alplaus, NY/Niskayuna/Saint Rose) and Rainville to the squad.
