Gators Swept in Saturday Afternoon Match

ALFRED, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Volleyball was swept on Saturday afternoon in an Empire 8 conference match against Alfred. 

Senior outside hitter Macey Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville), who started the week ranked in the top-30 nationally in: aces, points, and aces per-set, led the way for the Gators (12-9/2-3 E8) registering a team-high ten kills and six digs.

Junior middle hitter Aniyah Kelley (Newcastle, DE/William Penn) added seven kills while setter Emma Rainville (Castleton, NY/Columbia/Binghamton), a grad student, who commenced the week atop the E8 with 579 assists, paced the gators with 20 assists and nine digs.

Alfred (13-6/5-2 E8) had two tally double-digit kills in the victory.

This afternoon concluded a stretch where the Gators played eight out of nine contests away from home. RSC, now back in the friendly confines of the Kahl Campus Center for the final four matches of the regular season, hosts Elmira on Friday night. The program will recognize its seniors before the E8 contest.


Gator Bites: RSC began the week leading Empire 8 Conference with 188 aces, good for 30th nationally…A dozen players returned to the court in 2024…Senior outside hitter Macey Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville), middle hitter Monalissa Carius (Hudson, NY/Hudson), a grad student, and junior middle hitter Aniyah Kelley (Newcastle, DE/William Penn) headlined the group…Head Coach Rosilyn Cummings added four newcomers including transfers senior libero Katelyn Atchinson (Alplaus, NY/Niskayuna/Saint Rose) and setter Emma Rainville (Castleton, NY/Columbia/Binghamton), a grad student, to the squad…Rainville commenced the week leading the E8 with 579 assists...Cummings was inducted into the SUNY Plattsburgh Athletic Hall of Fame on September 27…Salvione was announced as the E8 Player of the Week for the periods ending Sunday, September 15 and Sunday, September 29…She commenced the week leading the Conference with 321.0 points, 260 kills, 58 aces, and 0.83 aces per-set…The stats all put the outside hitter in the top-30 nationally in all of those categories, including third in the country with 58 aces and 11th with 0.83 aces per-set…She has tallied double-digit kills 13 times and nine double-doubles this fall.
