ALBANY, N.Y. – Before Friday night's Empire 8 Conference match vs. Elmira, Russell Sage College Women's Volleyball recognized four student-athletes: libero Katelyn Atchinson (Alplaus, NY/Niskayuna/Saint Rose), outside hitter Macey Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville), middle hitter Monalissa Carius (Hudson, NY/Hudson), and setter Emma Rainville (Castleton, NY/Columbia/Binghamton), for their contributions to the program. Those honorees then proceeded to ensure that the Gators picked up an important home victory, with a 3-0 "Senior Night" sweep (25-20, 25-20, 25-15).
Salvione, who started the week ranked in the top-50 nationally in kills, aces, points, aces per-set, kills per-set, and points per-set, topped all players with 16 kills on .583 hitting, while Carius added seven kills.
Rainville, the Conference assist leader, dished out 18 helpers, while Atchinson tallied a match-high eight digs.
RSC (13-11/3-5 E8), which began the week atop the E8 in aces, served up 15 tonight. Salvione registered six, while Rainville recorded four.
Middle hitter Caitlin Hammecker (Warnerville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville/
Elmira (2-20/0-8 E8) received multiple kills from five different players in the setback.
The Gators, which snapped a four-match slide, host Keuka tomorrow afternoon.
