ALFRED, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Soccer clinched a spot in the upcoming Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament with this afternoon's scoreless draw at Alfred.
The squads were relatively even throughout the 90 minutes, with the Gators, playoff-bound for the third-consecutive fall, holding advantages of 12-10 on shots and 3-2 on corner kicks.
Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Horan (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) (4-5-4) stopped both Alfred (6-3-5/2-3-4 E8) that were on goal for the clean sheet. She now has 10.5 career shutouts, good for third all-time among RSC keepers since 1993.
"Securing this crucial point on the road has propelled us into the playoffs," said Head Coach Garrett Cobb. "Our solid performance against a tough opponent has instilled confidence, setting us up for a strong finish to the regular season."
RSC (5-6-4/4-3-2 E8) looks to improve its postseason position on Saturday vs. Houghton. The 5:00 pm home contest will also serve as the program's "Senior Day".
