ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Soccer took a season high 32 shots on Wednesday night en route to a 3-0 victory over SUNY Poly.
Senior defender Amelia Geesler (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central) got the scoring started for the Gators (4-6-3/3-3-1 E8) with a goal in the 39th minute. Junior forward Gianna Viscusi (Duanesburg, NY/Schalmont) scored off a pass from forward Marissa Key (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury), a grad student, early in the second half, before Sophomore defender Ella Moskov (Bolton Landing, NY/Bolton/Houghton) capped off the victory with her first career goal in the 80th minute.
Freshman goalkeeper Hailey Blake (Schenectady, NY/Colonie Central) (1-1-0) stopped the only shot-on-goal that the Wildcats (5-7-1/0-6-1 E8) registered in her first collegiate victory.
"A nice win like this can be a game-changer for the final stretch of the season," shared Head Coach Garrett Cobb after the shutout victory. "It boosts the team's confidence, reinforces their belief, and creates a positive atmosphere that can propel them to even greater heights."
RSC is in action next on Saturday as they play Keuka.
