UTICA, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Soccer captured their second conference victory on Wednesday evening as they took down Utica 1-0.
The Empire 8 rivals were square at zero for 63 minutes, before sophomore forward Sofia Sanzo (Niskayuna, NY/Colonie/Le Moyne) took a pass from junior midfielder Lydia Reimer (Newport, NY/West Canada Valley/Herkimer County CC) to the back of the net to secure the victory for the Gators (3-5-3/2-2-1 E8).
Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Horan (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) (3-4-3) saved the one shot that the Pioneers put on goal in the victory.
Utica (4-8-0/2-4-0 E8) won the shots battle 8-7, but could not find the back of the goal in the loss.
"Today's win was all about teamwork." shared Head Coach Garrett Cobb. "The X-factor for us was our ability to stay focused and execute our game plan. Everyone contributed, and that's what made the difference."
