ALBANY, N.Y. – Two first half goals were all Russell Sage College Women's Soccer needed on Wednesday night, as they took down visiting Elmira 2-1.

The Gators (2-3-2/1-1-0 E8) struck first as forward Marissa Key (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury), a grad student, took a pass from sophomore forward Sofia Sanzo (Niskayuna, NY/Colonie/Le Moyne) to the back of the net to quickly make it a 1-0 RSC advantage.

Senior defender Amelia Geesler (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central) added to that just three minutes later, scoring off a free-kick.

Elmira College (2-4-2/1-2-0 E8) got their lone score in the 79th minute as Emily Andersen took a Rachel Bortnick corner to the back of the net.

Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Horan (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) (2-3-2) stopped five of the six shots on goal that the Soaring Eagles put on to help RSC register their first conference victory of the season.

"We possessed the ball really well and were able to make good decisions on the ball coupled with good support," shared Head Coach Garrett Cobb of the victory. "We'll look tobuild off that as we head into the weekend."

The Gators are back in action on Saturday as they head to SUNY Geneseo for a 1:00 start.
