ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Soccer hosted St. John Fisher on Saturday, with the contest serving as both the Gators' Aid Game, supporting Morgan's message, as well as a day to honor the 2021 RSC Women's Soccer team who took home the Empire 8 Championship, the first E8 conference championship in Russell Sage College history.
Five Gators took shots as they fell 3-1 to the Cardinals at the ACP Athletic Complex.
RSC (2-5-3/1-2-1 E8) went down 2-0 early, but battled back just a few minutes later as junior forward Gianna Viscusi (Duanesburg, NY/Schalmont) headed a cross from senior forward Julia Hanlon (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) into the back of the net.
The goal was one of two shots Viscusi took in the loss. Senior defender Amelia Geesler (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central) was the only other Gator with multiple shots, tallying three.
Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Horan (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) (2-4-3) stopped eight shots on the afternoon.
St. John Fisher University (7-3-1/5-1-0 E8) got two early goals from Riley Grimm, both of which were assisted by Madelyn Wania.
RSC is back on the pitch on Wednesday as they head to Utica to face off with the Pioneers.
