ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Soccer celebrated their "Senior Night" on Saturday evening, defeating visiting Houghton 3-1.

The Gators (6-6-4/5-3-2 E8) struck first, as junior defender Courtney Bush (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) took a corner kick from sophomore midfielder Jaclyn Benedetti (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) off her head and into the back of the net to give RSC a 1-0 lead.

Houghton (7-6-2/4-3-1 E8) scored just a few minutes later with a goal from Taylor Curyto.

Russell Sage took the 1-1 tie into the break, and came out with their feet on the gas. Senior defender Amelia Geesler (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central) scored off a free kick in the 37th minute, and sophomore forward Sofia Sanzo (Niskayuna, NY/Colonie/Le Moyne) scored off an assist from Bush to give the Gators all they would need to pull off the 3-1 victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Horan (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) (5-5-4) stopped ten Highlander shots on the way to her fifth victory of the season.

"Great moments are born from great opportunity," shared Head Coach Garrett Cobb after his team pulled out their third win in their last four contests. "Our team seized that opportunity, played for each other, and proved that together, we're unstoppable. Everyone brought their A-game, and it was a true team win."

The Gators wrap up their regular season on Wednesday as they host Hartwick at 7:00 PM.
