ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College began its Empire 8 Conference slate this afternoon with a tough task coming from visiting SUNY Brockport.  The Golden Eagles, new to the E8 this fall, reached the finals of the 2023 SUNYAC Championship Tournament and were one of only 23 squads in the country yet to concede a goal this fall. The run of clean sheets continued this afternoon with a 1-0 win for SUNY Brockport.

Senior forward Sierra Edwards netted the lone goal with 37:55 remaining in the Saturday matinee.  The visitors, making their E8 debut, locked in from there, permitting RSC just three shots and two corner kicks across the final 37:55.

Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Horan (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) turned away a pair of shots, while sophomore midfielder Katelyn Nelson (East Islip, NY/East Islip) led all participants with four shots taken.

SUNY Brockport (4-0-1/1-0-0 E8), now 16-3-6 across its past 25 matches, outshot the Gators 18-8 and held a 6-4 advantage on corners during a hot Saturday afternoon.

RSC (1-2-2/0-1-0 E8) is back in action on Wednesday night at WestConn.
