Three Gators Score as RSC Shuts Out SUNY Delhi

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Soccer snagged their first victory of the season on Wednesday night, defeating the Broncos of SUNY Delhi 3-0.

The Gators controlled the game from start to finish, the defense limiting Delhi (1-2) to just one shot throughout the entire contest while taking 15 of their own, 12 of those on goal.

Sophomore forward Sofia Sanzo (Niskayuna, NY/Colonie/Le Moyne) got the scoring started with a first half goal off an assist from junior defender Katelyn Odorizzi (Voorheesville, NY/Clayton A. Bouton). 

The Gators took the 1-0 lead into the half and ran with it, finding the back of the net two times in the closing 45 minutes.

Sophomore midfielder Katelyn Nelson (East Islip, NY/East Islip) scored a long one from senior defender Madison Byrnes (Rotterdam, NY/Schalmontand junior midfielder Lydia Reimer (Newport, NY/West Canada Valley/Herkimer County CC) scored just a few minutes later off a pass from Sanzo.

"We showed tremendous effort tonight, and I'm proud of how they executed from start to finish," shared head coach Garrett Cobb"This win gives us great momentum heading into conference play, and it reinforces the confidence and belief in what we can accomplish. We'll look to carry this energy and focus into the weekend." 

The Gators kick off Empire 8 conference play on Saturday as they host SUNY Brockport at ACP Athletic Complex at 1:00 pm.
