ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College had nine student-athletes named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams.
Senior forward Alessandro Cerbara (Rome, Italy/SS Lazio/Saint Rose), junior midfielder Alejandro Aleo (Alicante, Spain/Ira Macia Abela/Saint Rose), and senior defender Mason Kievit (LaGrange, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) represented men's soccer, while junior defender Courtney Bush (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen), forward Marissa Key (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury), a grad student, junior forward Madison Albanese (Goshen, NY/Goshen), sophomore midfielder Katelyn Nelson (East Islip, NY/East Islip), senior defender Amelia Geesler (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central), senior forward Julia Hanlon (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park), were selected from the women's soccer team.
Kievit, Bush, Key, and Hanlon also earned the honor last season.
The2024 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced December 10 (men) and December 11 (women).
Gator Bites with Papa John's: RSC qualified for the Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament for the third-straight fall...Head Coach Garrett Cobb completed his ninth season at the helm of the Gators in 2024…15 players, including eight starters, returned this fall…First-team All-E8 Conference picks Bush and Key highlighted the group...Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Horan (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) finished her autumn ranked third in program records with 11 career shutouts…Key concluded the campaign with 78 career games played, tied for first among RSC players…Geesler was selected the E8 Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, October 20...She scored two goals, including the game-winning goal on October 16 vs. Utica, to help RSC pick up a pair of E8 victories.
