Sipe saluted as men's volleyball team Gator of the Year

Albany, NY—The Sage College's department of athletics gathered to recognize and honor the outstanding performances of the 2014-2015 year with the naming of the athletic award winners for the 15 varsity athletic teams. In addition to awarding the Gator Award, for the Most Outstanding Player, the department also named the 2014-2015 Female and Male Athletes of the Year, the Dean Sharon Robinson Senior Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year, which is given to the senior student-athlete with the highest overall grade point average, as well as the Aggie Stillman Perseverance Award.

Men's senior and team co-captain Thaddeus Sipe (Loudonville, NY/Hawthorne Valley) was named the Gator of the Year for his efforts with the volleyball team this past season.

A leader on and off the court, Sipe was also the co-president of Sage's Student Athlete Advisory Committee and was instrumental in the number of community service projects the Gators were involved in throughout the year from Toys for Tots, to the Chompers' Reading Program.

He played in all 88 sets for the 2015 Gators and tallied 56 kills with 17 aces. He added 89 digs for the team and was a two-year letterwinner in men's volleyball after transferring to Sage last year. He wraps his Gator career with 96 career digs with 54 kills, 20 aces and 25 total blocks in 47 matches played.
