Tough day for Gators at Vassar tri-match

Poughkeepsie, NY– The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team travelled to Vassar College and faced the host Brewers and the Cardinals of York College of (NY). Sage fell 3-0 to Vassar (25-15, 25-22, 25-18) and then dropped a tight match to York, 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 14-25, 25-21). Sage is now 9-17 on the season

Against Vassar, Sage was led by the play of rookie outside hitter Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) as he had 8 kills with 2 digs, while freshman Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) added 6 kills with 3 aces, 7 digs and 2 block assists. Freshman setter Tyler Bastos (Ludlow, MA/Ludlow) picked up 4 kills with 13 setting assists and 3 digs.

Against York, Sage's Cecchie had 12 kills with a .250 attack percentage while connecting for 4 digs and 2 aces. Guyton had 10 kills with 2 digs and a pair of aces as the Gators racked up 6 aces in the match. Bastos had 31 setting assists with 6 digs, while senior Juan Polanco (Bronx, NY/Urban Assembly Academy) tallied 6 kills with 1 dig. Senior co-captain Thaddeus Sipe (Loudonville, NY/Hawthorne Valley) added 4 kills with 2 aces, 2 digs and 2 block assists, while rookie Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) added 13 digs.

Sophomore co-captain Chris MacArthur (Hillsdale, NY/Taconic Hills) had 6 kills in the contest.

The Gators return to action on April 8 facing SUNY-New Paltz on April 8 at 7 p.m. in the season finale.
