Men's volleyball squad takes two matches in league play, besting Yeshiva and Sarah Lawrence

New York, NY– The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball travelled to Yeshiva University on Sunday for a pair of Skyline Conference matches with the host Maccabees and Sarah Lawrence College. In the first match, Sage topped Yeshiva University, 3-1 (24-26, 25-17, 25-21). In the second match the Gators beat SLC, 3-0 (25-15,, 25-9, 25-12). Sage improves to 6-9 overall, while standing a 4-4 in the Skyline Conference.

Against Yeshiva, freshman middle hitter Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) collected the double-double with 19 kills and 10 digs. He added three aces and was perfect with no errors in his 10 receptions.

Rookie outside hitter Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) racked up 12 kills with 10 digs. Freshman setter Tyler Bastos (Ludlow, MA/Ludlow) finished with 45 setting assists, while adding 14 digs and a pair of block assists.

Rookie Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) racked up nine kills with 13 digs, while senior Juan Pulanco (Bronx, NY/Urban Assembly Academy) added nine kills. Senior co-captain Thaddeus Sipe (Loundonville, NY/Hawthorne Valley) chipped in with seven digs and five kills.

All told, the Gators had a .301 attack percentage in the match, while limiting Yeshiva to a .136 attack percentage.

Against the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence, Sage's Cecchi had 13 kills with seven digs, while adding a .348 attack percentage in the match. Fitzpatrick added 11 digs with six kills.  Guyton had two aces with two kills and two digs. Bastos finished with 26 setting assists and three aces with seven digs and two kills. Sipe added five kills, while Polanco added four kills for the Gators and they held SLC to a -.214 attack percentage in the action.

Sage returns to action on March 15 travelling to Johnson and Wales University for a non-conference tri-match with Regis College.
