Sage men's volleyball squad takes key Skyline match over Purchase, but falls to Ramapo in league action

Purchase, NY– The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball travelled to Purchase College of Sunday for a Skyline Conference tri-match with Ramapo College. Sage won the first match over Purchase 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-1), but dropped the second match to Ramapo College, 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-23). The Gators are now 7-12 overall and 5-5 in the Skyline Conference.

Against Purchase, the Gators got a double-double from rookie outside hitter Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) as he had 11 kills with 10 digs. He had a .227 attack percentage in the contest. Freshman Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) paced Sage with six kills with a pair of aces and seven digs. Freshman setter Tyler Bastos (Ludlow, MA/Ludlow) had 26 set assists and both six kills and six digs and three total blocks.  Sophomore Chris MacArthur (Hillsdale, NY/Taconic Hills) returned to the lineup after a month away with an injury and added four kills with six digs and two block assists, while rookie Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) racked up six kills with six digs. Senior co-captain Thaddeus Sipe (Loudonville, NY/Hawthorne Valley) connected for two aces with six digs and four kills.

The Gators combined for a .250 attack percentage in the match, while adding five aces and 13 total blocks.

In the nightcap with Ramapo, Sipe had a team-best five kills with two digs and two block assists, while Fitzpatrick added 12 digs and four kills. Bastos racked up 15 setting assists, while MacArthur had four kills and six total blocks. Cecchi added two kills with five digs and Guyton added three kills with an ace and seven digs.

Sage returns to action on March 25 hosting Bard College in a 7 p.m. non-conference match at Kahl Gym.
