Season ends with loss to No. 3 ranked Hawks

New Paltz, NY– The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team travelled to SUNY-New Paltz for a non-conference match with the No. 3 ranked Hawks. New Paltz tallied a 3-0 win as they beat Sage, 25-12, 18, 25-21 to improve to 25-4 overall. Sage wraps the 2015 campaign with a 9-18 mark.

Sage was led by the play of rookie outside hitter Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) as he had 6 kills with 1 dig, while freshman Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) added two kills with 1 dig and a solo block. Freshman setter Tyler Bastos (Ludlow, MA/Ludlow) picked up two kills with nine setting assists and one dig with a block assist.

Rookie Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) added four setting assist with four digs, while sophomore co-captain Chris MacArthur (Hillsdale, NY/Taconic Hills) had three aces with one kill, one kill, two blocks and a pair of digs.

The contest marked the last match for the Gators' two seniors, Juan Polanco (Bronx, NY/Urban Assembly Academy) and co-captain Thaddeus Sipe (Loudonville, NY/Hawthorne Valley). Polanco had three kills with four total blocks in the match. He wraps his Sage career having tallied 93 career kills with 54 total blocks in 32 career matches played in two seasons. Sipe tallied three digs in the match and wraps his Gator career with 96 career digs with 54 kills, 20 aces and 25 total blocks in 47 matches played. 

On the season, Cecchi led the Gators with his 274.5 points off his 232 kills with 145 digs. Guyton led the Gators with 41 aces and 49 total blocks, while connecting for 152 kills with 133 digs and 225.5 points. Bastos had a team-best 569 setting assists on the year, while Fitzpatrick led Sage with 243 digs.
