Sage beats Bard 3-1 in men's volleyball action

Albany, NY– The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team hosted the Raptors of Bard College on Wednesday night in a non-conference match and posted the 3-1 win (23-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-22). With the win Sage is now 8-12 overall, while Bard drops to 8-16.

Bard won the first set 25-23 as they held Sage to a -.053 attack percentage. The Gators took the next three sets and finished with a .215 attack percentage in the action. Leading the way for the Gators rookie outside hitter Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) with 14 kills and seven digs. He added two blocks. Freshman Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) paced Sage with 10 kills with two aces and seven digs. He added three total blocks and had just one reception error in 19 attempts.

Freshman setter Tyler Bastos (Ludlow, MA/Ludlow) had 34 setting assists and three kills and five digs.

Sophomore Chris MacArthur (Hillsdale, NY/Taconic Hills) had eight kills with two aces and four digs. Rookie Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) racked up six kills with six digs. Senior co-captain Thaddeus Sipe (Loudonville, NY/Hawthorne Valley) connected for nine digs with no errors in 13 reception attempts, while senior Juan Polanco (Bronx, NY/Urban Assembly Academy) added three total blocks with three kills.

The Gators combined for a .215 attack percentage in the match, while adding five aces and 12 total blocks.

Sage returns to action on March 29 hosting a Skyline Conference Tri-Match in Kahl Gym with Sarah Lawrence College and Kean University. Prior to the 11 a.m. match with SLC, Sage will honor their 2015 seniors Thaddeus Sipe and Juan Polanco in conjunction with senior day.
