Albany, NY– The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball hosted the Mountaineers of Southern Vermont College in the team's 2015 home opener. SVC triumphed 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-19) and improve to 6-1 on the season, while Sage drops to 2-5.
For the Gators, sophomore co-captain Chris MacArthur (Hillsdale, NY/Taconic Hills) tallied seven kills with a dig and a block assist, while rookie outside hitter, Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) connected for five kills with seven digs and two solo blocks. Freshman middle hitter Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) added two kills with six digs and three block assists. Rookie Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) racked up three digs with an ace and a pair of blocks. Freshman setter Tyler Bastos (Ludlow, MA/Ludlow) finished with 15 setting assists, while adding six digs. Senior co-captain Thaddeus Sipe (Loudonville, NY/Hawthorne Valley) added two kills with three digs in the action.
For the Mountaineers, senior outside Keven Walley (Pico Rovera, CA) tallied eight kills with a .434 attack percentage and added two digs. Senior Scott Fitzgerald (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) and rookie outside Stewart Ramirez (Los Angeles, CA) both added seven kills, while Fitzgerald had three digs. Ramirez picked up six digs with three total blocks as SVC had a .237 attack percentage in the action. Senior setter Herson Canta (Laqunitas, CA) had 26 setting assists with three kills and three digs.
Sage returns to action on February 14 hosting a Skyline Conference tri-match in Kahl Gym. Sage will face New Jersey City University at 11 a.m. and the College of Mt. St. Vincent at 3 p.m.
