Sage falls short to Albany Pharmacy, 67-64

Albany, NY-- The Sage Colleges' men's basketball team hosted the Panthers of Albany College of Pharmacy on Thursday night in the Kahl Gym. The contest was billed as the Battle of New Scotland Avenue and went to the Panthers, 67-64. The victory puts ACP at 7-1 on the year, while Sage drops to 4-3.

Sage held a 35-32 lead at the break and led by five points 51-47 with 10:27 left to play. The Panthers clawed their way back and tied the game at 53-53 with 5:25 left. They went on a run that saw them pull away by six points, 64-58 before Sage rallied back and pulled within one point on a three-pointer by senior guard Will Hennep (Wheatley Heights, NY/Half Hollow Hills West) at 0:08 left. ACP's junior forward Casey Redfern (Binghamton, NY) made a pair of clutch free throws under pressure to help his team to the win with two seconds left and the Gators were unable to get the tying shot off before time expired.

Redfern led all players with 24 points and had nine rebounds, while junior center Steven Brown (Watervliet, NY) added 17 points and nine rebounds.  Sophomore guard John Tremblay (Guilderland, NY) also finished in double-digits as he had 12 points.

Sage's senior forward Matt Farbotko (Rouses Point, NY/Northeastern Clinton) had 18 points and was 12-13 from the free throw line. He now has 944 career points and is poised to become the Gators' first 1,000 point scorer.

Sage is back in action on December 8 at Purchase College for a 2 p.m. Skyline Conference game on the road.
