Seniors deliver for Gators as volleyball beats Maritime and FSC

Albany, NY--The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team hosted the Privateers of Maritime College and the Rams of Farmingdale State in a Skyline Conference Tri-Match on Saturday. Sage went 2-0 on the day as they beat Maritime (3-0, 25-12, 25-16, 25-12) and the Rams, 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-13). Sage stands at 20-9 overall and 7-1 in the Skyline and tied for first place in the league standings.

Against Maritime, Sage's junior outside hitter Sara Campolieta (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) connected for 11 kills with a .562 attack percentage. She added three digs as well as the Gators had a combined .256 attack percentage in the match and held the Privateers to a -.043 attack percentage. Junior outside hitter Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) racked up seven kills and had a .500 attack percentage with a pair of digs.

Senior middle hitter Mickey Mango (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) added six kills with two aces and a pair of block assists. Junior libero Siena Wilder (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Spa) had 13 digs with three aces.

Junior setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) had 26 setting assists with four digs and an ace.  Junior Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) added nine digs and was perfect with no reception errors in 11 attempts. Junior defensive specialist Missy Schneiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) added three digs, while connecting for two aces. Senior Maggie Brenenstuhl (Melrose, NY/Hoosic Valley) had three aces with three digs as well in the action.

Against FSC, Berard had a team-best 13 kills, while senior Morgan Robinson (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added 10 kills with a .421 attack percentage. Liebig had 33 setting assists, while tallying two aces and 12 digs.

Wilder had 22 digs with a perfect reception performance with no errors in 15 attempts. Rimwai added 12 digs, with an ace for the Gators as they had five aces in the match and held the Rams to a 0.089 attack percentage.

Mango has moved into the No. 8 spot in career kills with 678 as she moved past Kellie Jones (2005-2009) with 675. Mango is also No. 4 in career blocks with 256, while Berard stands No. 9 in career blocks with 121. Berard jumped to No. 9 in career kills as she has 632 kills, while Robinson is now No. 12 with 589 career kills.

Prior to the match Sage will unveiled championship banners for the 2014 Sage Women's Volleyball team, which won the Skyline Conference regular-season title as well as the Skyline Conference Tournament Championship and earned an NCAA bid.

Sage will be hosting Oneonta State on October 27 in the team's 2015 home regular-season finale at 7 p.m. in the Kahl Gym.
