Volleyball Team drops pair at Hawk Invitational

New Paltz, NY--The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team opened play on Friday at the SUNY-New Paltz Hawk Invitational. The Gators dropped the first match to the host Hawks, 3-0 (25-19, 25-2, 27-25). In the second match Sage faced Stockton University and fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-13). The Gators are now 4-2 on the year. Action continues on Saturday as Sage faces NYU at 11 a.m. and Fredonia State at 3 p.m.

Junior setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) had two kills with 21 setting assists and five digs as the Gators faced New Paltz. Junior outside hitter Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) also had seven kills, while sophomore Alyssa Nellis (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) paced the Gators with her six kills.

Junior outside hitter Siena Wilder (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Spa) had one ace with 13 digs, while junior outside Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) added 10 digs.

Against Stockton, Sage got seven kills from Berard, while Wilder tallied nine digs. Senior middle hitter Mickey Mango (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) had five kills, while Liebig finished with 16 setting assists and a pair of digs.
