Liebig joins 2,000 setting assist club as Gators down MCLA, 3-1

Troy, NY--The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team hosted the Trailblazers of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in a non-conference contest at the Neff Athletic Center on Thursday evening.  Sage captured the match, 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 25-15, 25-14) and improves to 14-7 on the year, riding a five-match win streak. MCLA drops to 15-7 overall and was denied the opportunity to set a school record with their 16th victory.

Sage's junior setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) had 30 setting assists with an ace and seven digs. She became the fourth player in Sage women's volleyball history to achieve her 2,000th career setting assist and now has 2,014 career setting assists and is No. 4 all-time at Sage.

Junior outside hitter Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) racked up an impressive 17 kills and had a .294 attack percentage as she added six digs with two solo blocks. Sage's senior tri-captain Mickey Mango (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) added nine kills, while classmate and right side Morgan Robinson (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added five kills. 

Gator junior libero Siena Wilder (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Spa) picked up two aces with 17 digs, while sophomore defensive specialist Missy Scheiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) also finished in double-digits with her 14 digs.

MCLA's junior outside hitter Allison Clark (San Jose, CA) led the Trailblazers with her 16 kills and had a blistering .424 attack percentage, while picking up six digs as well.  Junior outside Sam Anderson (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park) added five kills, while rookie Beatrice Lechler (Point Lookout, NY/Holy Trinity) added 17 setting assists with six digs.

Senior Courtney Parent (South Deerfield, MA/Frontier) added 15 setting assists for MCLA, while senior defensive specialist Angelica Perfido (Whately, MA/Frontier) added 15 digs and had two aces. Junior Rachel Mills (Highland Mills, NY/Monroe) picked up 14 digs with a block assist, while sophomore libero Chanielle Enomoto (Wailuku, HI) added 12 digs.

Sage is back in action on October 17 travelling to Mt. St. Mary College for a Skyline Conference tri-match with Purchase College. MCLA is back in action on October 13 with a road conference match at Framingham State at 7 p.m.
