Riverdale, NY - The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team collected a 3-2 win over the Dolphins of the College of Mt. Saint Vincent on Tuesday night in a Skyline Conference match (25-14, 25-22, 16-25, 18-25, 15-13). Sage improves to 12-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference, while riding a three-match win streak. The Dolphins drop to 5-6 overall and 1-3 in the league.
Among the many highlights on the night for the Gators, junior setter Joanie Cooney (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) tallied her second straight 40+ setting assist effort as she had 43 on the night. She continues to lead Sage this season and now has 1,862 career assists. She also had 19 digs with 3 kills and an ace.
For the Gators sophomore Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobles,kill Richmondville) lead Sage with 19 kills and 20 digs for a double-double. Rookie Kelsey Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) was also key to the Gator offense with her 11 kills and 6 digs.
Sage's libero, sophomore Katelyn Drollette (Cadyville, NY/Saranac) recorded 18 digs as well for the Gators.
Sage returns to action on Friday and Saturday, September 28 and 29 travelling to the SUNY-IT Wildcat Invitational.
