NORTH ADAMS, MA - The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team collected a 3-2 win over the Trailblazers of MCLA on Tuesday night in a non-conference match. Sage improves to 11-2, while MCLA drops to 3-8.
Among the many highlights on the night for the Gators, junior setter Joanie Cooney (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) moved into the No. 3 spot on Sage's career setting list. She moved ahead of Amanda Stemmler who had 1,779 assists during her career at Sage (2001-2002). She tallied 30 setting assists and now has 1,805 on her career.
Visiting Sage came alive in the second game behind a strong team effort that led to a 11-1 run. Sophomore Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill Richmondville) finished the match with 17 kills.
Rookie Morgan Robinson (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added 9 kills with 3 block assists. Sophomore Katelyn Drollette (Cadyville, NY/Saranac) racked up 8 digs for Sage, while Cooney tallied 6 digs.
Sage returns to action on Tuesday, September 25 travelling to the College of Mt. St. Vincent for a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference match.
